a creative collaboration to last a lifetime

I am especially drawn to creating portraits because they are uniquely personal while also (inevitably) referential and (ideally) widely resonant. There is a paradoxical timelessness in capturing a singular person at a specific moment in time— an exploration of humanity that, when done with appropriate attention and emotional honesty, will continue to evoke a response for years to come.

‍Creating a portrait is a collaborative exercise between the artist, the subject, and/or the client; seated at the intersection of perception (how the subject is seen by the artist, themself, or their loved ones), presentation (how the subject or the client wants the subject appear in a painting), and aesthetics (what stylistic choices— frame, color, composition, size, etc.— best reflect those interests).

*Unfortunately I am not offering ceramic commissions at this time.
