Bess Kelpin (b. 1991) is a classically trained oil painter and dilettante ceramicist.

In 2021 she devoted herself to full-time artistic study at the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied draftsmanship and oil painting. She now works in Charlotte, NC, where she lives with her husband and twin daughters.

Her work is consistently informed by an academic background in Art History (BA Davidson College) but also depends heavily on attentive observation from life and intuitive, emotional play with color and form. She brings a stubborn curiosity to experimentation, seeking to marry disparate influences and chasing the alchemy of everyday moments and timeless resonance.
